Hello everyone. I wanted to start by saying that you and you family's health is much more important than anything school related. If you feel the need to self-isolate or if you are feeling sick - do not come to school. We miss you, but spend the time with your loved ones!


If you are looking for things to do to help keep up to date at school, here are some of the things you can be doing ( but you don't have to!):

- Use Google drive to carry on your presentation of your family/culture
- Read on Epic! (code is UCU1170)
- Research Peru.
- Practise your times tables and division. Try different strategies if you are not so confident in them, now is a good time to practise.
- Watch something educational on a steaming service like Netflix - my favourite things to watch are animal and nature documentaries. Perhaps you will learn about a really cool animal, and when you are back, you can share with the class.
- Practise your cursive
- Work on a rhyming poem with the ABCB pattern - you can share it with me on google drive. Aim for about 3 verses, but if you want to do more, that is great. Remember that poetry can be silly and fun:

A. The alligator chased his tail
B. Which hit him in the snout
C. He nibbled, gobbled, swallowed it,
B.And turned right inside-out

I had planned to start our new unit on construction with different materials, but due to student absence, I will try and introduce it next week. I did not want people to come back and feel lost.
In the mean time, I would like you to start thinking about construction and building. Here are some guiding questions to think about. If you have your own questions that you have about buildings or bridges, feel free to add them to a google slide presentation and we can look at them as a class.
Try and write your questions and thoughts down, you do not need to know the answers right now. Good scientists start their work by asking questions.

- What are some of the more interesting building designs in the world?
- What makes a building or bridge interesting to you?
- Where could I find the biggest building and/or bridge in the world?
- How is it different to other buildings or bridges?
- What is it made from?
- Would it still work if it was made from different materials like glass, wood, rubber or even paper?
- If we know from rocks and minerals that diamonds are the hardest mineral, why don't we make bridges and buildings from diamonds?
- What shapes do we use when designing a building or bridge? Are some shapes better than others?
- What are some important things that bridges and buildings need?

As the current health situation stands, Spanish will not be taking place next Friday.

We started the day with some cursive practice of e, l and b.  We then watched a video called ' How do germs get inside our bodies? We saw a sneeze in slow motion and we were all pretty grossed out. We saw that washing your hands has to be done properly, covering all areas of our hands and nails and we should sing a song for about 20 seconds while doing so.

We then worked in groups to test each other on our spelling words using whiteboards. It was great to see the difference practising had made and we were able to help our classmates out with tricky words.

We then learnt some more about Peru, looking at Machu Picchu and the llamas surrounding it. We learnt that the animal on the Peruvian flag is called a vicuña which was bred with llamas to create alpacas. We then started an art project where we drew our own llamas.

During snack time we read some more Greek myths and for indoor recess we watched some mr bean and then described his silly antics in French afterwards.
