On Friday we ran the Terry Fox run. Despite being a bit cold and wet, I tried my best and never gave up. Before the race, we met in the gym and face-timed with Canadian Paralympian John Leslie. He told us about how he has different legs for snowboarding, running and walking. He also spoke to us about perseverance : Never giving up, even when we really want to.

Madame McCann came to speak to us about becoming word collectors. If I find a word I find cool or interesting, I should write it down and bring it in to share with the class. We are putting our words on the classroom wall so that we can all share them.

We then went to the library and picked out one French book and one English book.

Reminders:
  •  Monday is Orange T-shirt day.
  • Social studies homework for Tuesday: Please bring in 2 pictures. One picture of a person who I or was important in your life, and one picture of a place you have been to that is special to you. Along with your pictures, please bring an object that is special to you. Monsieur Richardson has already spoken to the class about ensuring these are copies of pictures and that they are not original photos that may get lost or damaged.  M. Richardson also asked us to check our photos and our object with our parents before bringing it to school.
Books read this week: Shi-Shi Etko & The SkrĂmslis of Lavaland

Math: We played Yahtzee with Madame April and made numbers to match categories.

Science : We made booklets about rocks and minerals. We read those and used that information to answer questions. Some members of my class even brought in some rocks and minerals to show us.
We looked at how volcanoes can cause chaos with flights by spewing out ash and rock particles.

Health :I reflected on my goals that I had made at the start of the year. We shared how we had demonstrated positive relationship behaviours such as helping others with the monkey bars and inviting others to play with us. We watched a video on an owl that could puff out its body when it felt threatened, or make its body very thin to hide. We discussed how in life, we may find ourselves in situations we don't like or make us uncomfortable, but having a growth mindset can help us adapt and overcome almost anything in life.

Ask me:  How many laps did I do? How am I progressing towards my goals in health?
