March 11

We spent the morning working on our maths looking at patterns we can use when working with our 11 and 10 times table. We then special dice that contained a second dice inside to pracist our multiplication. We played around with the fact that we can rearrange the first two numbers in an equation and it means the same thing. So 3x5 is the same as 5x3. We then divided the results to spot patterns. So :

3x5 = 15
5x3 = 15
15/ 3= 5
15/3 = 3

We started to see the pattern emerging!

After PE we had library and we finished the story of Echo and Narcissus. We started to read the trials of Heracles.

In the afternoon, we had a GOTD about the immortal jellyfish, which led us to talk about zombie starfish and wooly mammoths. We then began to share our culture presentations which were fascinating a really well done. We Lexie shared about her baptism, Penny spoke about her family origins, Hannah shared a family recipe which looks yummy, Zac spoke of his family fleeing their home country and Dalila told us about Egyptian culture. We soon realized that Ryan and Arsham use similar words in their culture to share good wishes during a holiday, and Egyptian culture incorporates some similar aspects to Ukrainian culture and how other western countries celebrate Easter by painting eggs and eating fish. Spotted these links between our cultures and languages is helping us to see how we are all unique, but share some really interesting similarities that we didn't know before.
